Distributor finance — also known as dealer or channel finance — is a supply-chain programme in which a UAE bank funds the downstream buyers (distributors, dealers, and retailers) of a strong anchor manufacturer or principal, so they can purchase more inventory on credit than their own balance sheets would allow. The anchor (for example an FMCG producer, auto principal, or electronics brand) partners with a bank such as FAB, Mashreq, or HSBC, which extends short-term credit lines to the anchor’s approved dealers to pay for goods at the point of purchase. The dealer repays the bank as it sells the stock, while the anchor gets paid upfront and sells more volume through a better-funded channel. Because the lines are underwritten partly on the anchor’s strength and the proven trade relationship, dealers access more credit at finer rates than standalone borrowing. Programmes run on conventional or Islamic structures. FinanceMarket.ae connects anchor distributors and their dealer networks to the banks running the most effective channel-finance programmes in the UAE.
